Dreaming In Indigo

I am smitten with Indigo right now. I love the color and to me it is the new Emerald.  Mark my words....Indigo is going to be the new trending color. I can't tell you how often I find myself choosing items in this color, it's seriously like a magnet.  Indigo is easy to pair both complimentary colors as well as contrasting and I love all the combinations.

In home decorating and styling you can either choose to use indigo as the accent color or as the main focal color. I tend to like the latter.  Pair indigo with accents or coral, orange, yellow, white, emerald, or a combo of two of the mentioned colors. Here is some inspiration!

Here are some of my favorite indigo pieces to style your home.

Appareled Abode - A Touch Of Leopard

Happy Friday!  Phew, it's almost the weekend!  What a crazy busy week it has been! I must say I do like being busy but I don't think there is one night this week I stopped working before midnight. I am not one to sleep much anyway but I am definitely going to try to sleep in a little at some point this weekend. By sleep in I mean 8:00am. It's supposed to rain here in Boston and that's the best time to snuggle up in bed so I am secretly hoping we do get a little rain.

One of the projects I will be working on this weekend is based on a very neutral decor. My client's love browns and creams with gold accents (I must say I love that combo too, duh!) I love when I have clients that know exactly what they want. It makes it fun because they really can get involved in the process.  I am using their color palette as inspiration to create my Appareled Abode segment for this week.

I created the outfit based on something I would wear out with the girls, to dinner with my husband and even to a client meeting. It's very versatile. I do take my chances with white pants every single time I wear them but hey, that's what bleach is for! Just keep the red wine away! I am seriously a magnet for stains. No joke.

Abode

I am loving this neutral color combo. I picture it in a room with lots of windows and natural light with linen panels and espresso hardwood floors. (I adore the little bulldog statue).

Apparel: Top | Jeans | Shoes | Bag | Bracelet | Earrings | Rings | Necklace | Sunglasses | Belt

See, neutrals don't have to be blah and boring when it comes to decor & fashion. When in doubt just add a pop of color with fresh flowers or a bright lipstick :)

Enjoy your weekend everyone! Get inspired and Design Your Life!

Adorned

Just like in designing a room, the little details can make a big statement as can the right piece of jewelry to an outfit. I am always in search of great new pieces. I love big jewelry as well as dainty pieces. I mix trendy with classic pieces. I mean who doesn't like a nice set of studs?

These are a few of my favorite pieces right now. Some I have and others I have on my wish list (hint hint Derek if you are reading this).  Of course all my favorites are gold :)

I die over this Tom Ford Bracelet...I mean it's only  $1,930.... You have to call to order it so I can't even put the link up. I immediately start singing "You fancy huh?" when I see this beauty.

I did settle for this little number though. I love the wishbone. It's really dainty.

So as you can see I love gold (white and yellow but mainly yellow right now) and I am really gravitating towards blush, emerald and other shades of green this season when it comes to bobbles. I am into layering necklaces and bracelets and will always love my hoop earrings, they are a staple!

What style jewelry are you loving for Spring/Summer 2013?

On a side note. Have you checked out Glossy Blonde blog? Niki is a friend that I have known since our days at NAHS (I mean where does the time go?) and we have reconnected through blogging. I am so happy to have gotten back in touch with her. Niki is such a great girl and really has some great tips and styling on her blog. She even has a  YouTube channel where she has recipes, monthly favorites and hauls. Who doesn't like a good haul? She models some great outfits and the best thing about it is her husband takes all her fashion pics. Gotta love love! Check her out and keep your eye out for her on my Appareled Abode segment soon!

Speaking of Appareled Abode, I got the copyright and am thrilled.

Appareled Abode | White Hot Magenta!

For the first installment of my Appareled Abode Series I decided to go with a fun pop of color. Magenta.

I was inspired by this white outfit with magenta accents for my Apparel portion....

Although this outfit is on trend and super cute, I personally am not sure if I would be brave enough to rock the  bustier  (I think it's a little too young for this 30 something year old). I would change out the top for a similar style spaghetti strap tank in a longer length and tuck it into the skirt. Anyone women out there that can pull it off... ROCK IT! Regardless, I love this look!

This is my rendition on how to pull off this look in your Abode!

Mixing lots of white with patterned magenta elements give this abode lots of color and texture but still keeping it clean with the main elements being white. Adding pops of metallic in with the bedside and chair side tables give this room some texture just like jewelry would to an outfit.

Love the looks in this Appareled Abode?  Here is where you get everything you see here!

Apparel:
Jersey Bustier | Tulip Wrap Skirt | Ankle Wrap Sandals | White Patent Leather Clutch | Nars Lip gloss | Korres Plum Lip Butter

Abode: Ivory Linen Chair | Magenta Pillow Cover | Square Gold Table | Round Gold Side Table | Console Table | White Tufted Bed | Rug | Duvet

I hope this post inspires you to peek into your closet to style your home! What styles would you like to see in future post of APPARELED ABODE? Leave  me a comment for suggestions or contact me for design help!

What's My Name?

Monogramming is huge right now in styling. People like putting their name on something  and monogramming is the best way to do so. It's making a mark on the style scene both in interiors and in fashion.  I am all about monogramming and these are my favorite ways to put my initials on my favorite possessions.

If you like then you should put your name on it!

Adore Chambray...

It was 1993 and I was obsessed with button down shirts. My most favorite was a worn washed denim button down that I got at the Gap. I wore this shirt with jeans mostly trying to match the colors perfectly. It was what you wore as a freshman in HS because it was rad.
This look has since been labeled the "Canadian Tuxedo".  I thought I looked so cool.

Fast forward 20 years (really, it's been that long!?!?!) and I am once again in love with that denim shirt now labeled the "chambray".

My styling and fashion sense has expanded so much since those high school days and I am now pairing this button down with everything from skirts & black pants to colored denim & layering it under cozy sweaters and blazers. It is my go to item in my closet when I don't know what to wear & it has replaced a cardigan for many of my outfits. I especially adore it mixed with a bold print like leopard.

Here are a few of my favorite looks!

Mixed with a striped maxi and a pop of red.

A short emerald green skirt & gold belt.

Cream blazer & simply gold jewelry.

White blazer & gold sequin shorts.

Black leggings/jeans & brown boots

Light gray sweater & black/dark wash jeans.

Who can deny this looks AH-MAZING. Chambray over a wedding dress with cowboy boots.

The sky is the limit when pairing the Chambray shirt. Anything goes!
